Driver Supervisor - OTR
Purpose: The individual filling the position of Driver Supervisor shall reflect the goals and objectives as stated in the LDT Statement of Purpose. Daily you will provide accurate and efficient results that meet organizational demands. The ideal candidate will work well with all departments and be flexible to process changes and will be a participant in creating a positive culture of continuous improvement in the organization.
Responsibilities:
- You will supervise approx. 20 drivers. This will fluctuate up or down as we grow and develop the team.
- Take all phone calls from “your driver group” and support them as needed.
- Review schedule and confirm freight bills.
- Submit workflow from freight bills.
- Help drivers with route planning and extreme weather avoidance.
- Help with scanner app’s, company phones, Peoplenet computers in trucks, workflow, etc.
- Dispatch driver verbally or with written instructions as needed.
- Follow established breakdown and flat-tire protocols. (a manual will be developed)
- Take responsibility to oversee daily driver document submissions. Examples are POD, receipts, and other supporting documents.
- Help your drivers with route planning, departure times, appointment times, fueling locations etc.
- Meet with drivers annually and give Driver Performance Reviews.
- Help encourage participation, educate, and coach drivers on the Driver Bonus Program.
- Communicate and coordinate with the LDT Customer Service team, the load needs for the trucks/drivers that you are responsible for.
- Coordinate with LDI Relations Rep regarding inbound/outbound Lynden Door loads.
- Cover other Driver Supervisors during off-shift hours.
- Be a part of a rotation after hours & weekend on call contact support person.
- To fulfill these responsibilities the ideal candidate will have:
- A broad level of experience with trucking operations and an extensive understanding of electronics used in this industry.
- A strong multi-tasking skill.
- Be highly adaptable
- An even keel under stressful times.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- High level of detail orientation
- Ability to trouble shoot problems as they arise.
- Will be able to process information quickly and make sound decisions.

- Obtain mastery of transportation related tools
- Google Sheets and Excel
- Truckmate – trucking operations database
- PeopleNet – web-based interface for truck tracking and communication
- Freight load boards
- Northbound E-manifest Canadian customs portal
- Southbound ACE US customs portal
- LTL websites for online quotes
- Customs broker websites
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Reporting:
Driver Supervisor reports directly to the Lynden Door Trucking, LLC Director of Operations
Schedule:
Monday-Friday - normal office hours
Saturday – Sunday “on call only” rotation with other members of the team
